Eucharist in Action

The Eucharist Truth in Action

The Eucharist was over my head, I had taken a class on it but really got me was when I heard the miracles of the Eucharist. There was a story of Saint Anthony who was preaching in an area divided by believers and non-believers. He got angry one day  and went down to the water and said if no one is going to listen to me and least you fish will listen to me. So the fish came out of the water and listened to him then went back into the sea after he dismissed them. The people were astonished!

A man approached Saint Anthony and said “I see the fish will listen to you what about my donkey. Can you get my donkey to worship your God? St. Anthony said yes! The agreement was to not feed the man’s donkey for three days. And meanwhile Saint Anthony fasted for three days with the hopes he could get some conversions. On the third day, after Mass, St. Anthony came out with the Eucharist and the man with the hay. The donkey stood in the middle. St. Anthony said “Ok donkey, go worship your Lord and Master.” So the donkey turned to the St. Anthony and knelt down before the Eucharist. The man in turn also became a believer and also the rest of the town. THAT was the critical point for me in the believing in the Eucharist.”

Truth #3 The Eucharist is Eternal Food

Living One’s Vocation is an Honest Projection

God Speaks about our role in the defeat of evil. We are individually asked to participate in the crushing of evil. By our free will we can make decisions that makes us participants in Mary’s heel.

There are four vocations:

  1. Marriage
  2. Order of the priesthood
  3. Religious single life
  4. Non-religious single life

Genesis 3:14-15 And the Lord God said to the serpent: Because thou hast done this thing, thou art cursed among all cattle, and beasts of the earth: upon thy breast shalt thou go, and earth shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heal.

Luke 9:23 Christ said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
— Douay-Rheims Version

At Midnight Mass in 2003, Father Robert Altier wrote in his homily, “The Church is going to be crucified, and you have the greatest blessing that has ever been bestowed upon humanity, that is, to be a member of the Church when She is crucified. Nothing greater has ever been offered to a Christian person than to be alive when the Mystical Body of Christ goes to the Cross. I believe that you have that opportunity. I believe that each one of us will also have the opportunity to be able to see Our Lady at work. Prophesied in Genesis 3:15, She is going to crush the head of the serpent, and the way that she is going to do that is through the little people that she has chosen, the humble ones, the rejected ones, the ones who do not fit in – that’s us. We are the means by which Satan is going to be crushed because we are the heel of Our Lady. Once again, a great blessing; not exactly fun, but there will be cause for great rejoicing.”

Confession = Honest Reflection

Christ implies that Honesty with self and others is required to properly receive the third truth…This includes the sacrament of Confession. Confession can only be administrated by a good standing Catholic Priest.

John 20:21-23 He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.

— Douay-Rheims Version

The Eucharist is Eternal Food

Christ said, ‘My body is real food; My blood is real drink.’ Christ is declaring the Eucharist the food necessary for everlasting life. A Catholic Priest is the only person that can create the Eucharist using bread and wine during the Mass.

John 6:51-52, 54-59 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead. He that eateth this bread, shall live for ever.

— Douay-Rheims Version

Christianity is the True Religion

Christ said, ‘I’m the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes through the Father but through me.’ Christ is declaring Christianity as the only True Religion.

John 14:6 Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.

-Douay-Rheims Version

You Will Die

Truth #1 is that you will die.

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return to the earth, out of which thou wast taken: for dust thou art, and into dust thou shalt return.

-Douay-Rheims Version

Family assisted after tornado by the 5Truths Foundation

The Holthaus Family is supported by Truth #5

Thinking back to the time soon after the tornado, I am reminded of a song we sang in church the week after the tornado, “Here in This Place.” The words go, “We are all hungry people, we need shelter and strength. We are one in our hurting, we are one in our pain. All our lives are a mystery; we see not where they lead. We are asked now to trust you and we know we must believe. As our feet become Christ’s feet, we go forth with the grace of the power and the Spirit that is here in this place.”

Even though we are very Blessed to have insurance, to also have the out pouring of help from an Amazing , Organization called the “ 5 Truths” truly helped in our “suffering”. My husband took the week off unpaid after the tornado the money given to us financially in our pain of trying to figure out what to do next by giving us the time we needed all together.

Thank You to Everyone from the 5 Truths, for coming forth as Christ’s hand and feet!

Love- The Holthaus family, Josh, Melissa, Abby, Brady and Andy.
